NZ’S FIRST TELEMANAGEMENT-CONTROLLED LED-LIT TUNNEL WINS IESANZ AWARD 2016

Wellington’s Mount Victoria Tunnel became the first in NZ to be lit by Telemanagement-controlled LED Lighting. Smart lights have upgraded Wellington’s dim 623-metre Mt Victoria Tunnel into a brighter, safer place for drivers, pedestrians and cyclists.

As Auckland starts the roll-out of its planned move to LED street lighting, AEC’s Italo is taking it’s place on key routes. The new LED luminaires, with up to 50% energy saving over traditional lights, are now making Auckland Transport’s white light policy affordable.

Built on a sloping site, Wintec Campus has several levels connected with flights of stairs. The brief was to ensure the lighting gave a sense of place to the communal meeting areas and made students and staff feel safe using these areas and steps after dark.

PEDESTRIAN CROSSING – SPECIFIC LED OPTICS

Pedestrian Crossings require a high level of white light across the whole width of the crossing to maximise the safety of pedestrians. Specific optics project the light forward from the luminaire ensuring maximum vertical illumination of pedestrians using the crossing.

Bryce street is a major shopping street in Hamilton which needs to be brightly lit after dark to encourage shoppers. LED luminaires give a white light which ensures objects are seen in their true colours, so more easily perceived by the human eye and thus increasing road safety.
